We turned ourselves inside out before we re-opened to come up with policies that will enable you to have a fabulous experience, whist providing you with as much protection as possible.
What has become clear is that there is a tightrope to walk between the two and its not been easy! After reading many government documents, completing our risk assessment and talking with our cleaner who has also gone through courses on cleaning regimes for the pandemic. We came up with a plan that hopefully walks that tightrope.
With that in mind, here are the changes we be made in line with government guidelines. These plans may change over time as new information comes to light, or new legislation is imposed.
Cleaning and house preparation policy
Firstly, we want to give our cleaner as much time as possible to do the extra sanitation required at Kittiwake. So, we’ve had to change our check in time to 4pm. However, if the property is ready earlier, we will text you to let you know so you can get settled more quickly.
You are more than welcome to arrive before this and park on the drive and go for a walk on the beach or find your bearings. We also ask that if possible, you check out at 9 am to give our cleaner as much time as possible to put in the extra sanitisation required during this difficult time. We hope you understand.
Standard cleaning: Our cleans will be to our normal high standard, with the addition of any hard surfaces and touch points (there is a long list!) being cleaned with an anti-viral cleaner in line with our risk assessment.
We will also leave general cleaning materials and an anti-viral spray that has been tested against coronavirus at the property for your use, should you want to clean any surfaces yourself upon arrival or during your stay. Please leave this in the property for others to use.
Crockery and Cutlery: All this will be clean and left in its normal place within the kitchen, however if you feel unsure about anything please rewash before use.
Cleaning Material : As normal dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cloths, sprays and hand soap will be left for all guests to use during their stay.
Books, games, DVD’s: and beach equipment : We recognise that it will be impossible to clean every page of every book or every item of a game every week. We did consider removing all these items but felt that this would reduce your holiday experience. So, we’ve decided to leave all these items but not have them so easy to access, giving you the option to use them or not and keeping them out of the reach of younger children. DVD’s will be in a cupboard, the adults books will remain on the book case however we have put the children’s books in a plastic box in the wardrobe and have put games in a plastic container in the dining area. Beach and further equipment remains under the stairs, again out of the way.
Soft Furnishings: We have decided to remove throws and decorative cushions from the bedrooms. Although it means its ‘not how it is in the pictures’, we feel it best in the circumstances.
Cushions and throws in the living area will remain and rotated for stays. Sofas and mattresses will be sprayed with antibacterial sprays each changeover.
Towels will be left for the number of guests that are booked into the cottage.
Bedding: Our duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases, bathmats, towels, tea towels are cleaned each week. There will be fresh mattress and pillow protectors on all the beds each stay, please leave them on the beds throughout your stay.
Our cleaner will make up the beds for you prior to your arrival as normal and will remove bedding safely after you have left. The cleaner will be wearing relevant PPE whilst doing this and gloves will be changed between taking bedding off and putting clean bedding back on.
Welcome Notes for the cottage and leaflets of places of interest will no longer be left in the cottage but instead be emailed to you in advance of your stay along with directions and keycode and departure checklist.
